Why is the Disciple Making Movement (DMM) so important?

  • It is healthy, real revival!
  • It is doable everywhere!
  • It is a core focus in the Christian life!

INTRO – FOUNDATION

What is: Addition?

If only one “superhero disciple” does it all to make decisions for Christ.

Addition: 1 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 1 = 5

4 new people reached by one person over let’s say 4 years.

This method will not reach the world.

What is: Exponential Multiplication?

If one “superhero disciple” multiplies themselves into others who also multiply themselves – who then multiply themselves and so on:

Multiplication: 1 + 1 = 2, 2 + 2 = 4, 4 + 4 = 8, 8 + 8 = 16, 16 + 16 = 32

4 new people reached by one person – who are then also trained to reach out to one and so on. This method will reach the world faster and is truly healthy revival.

In the summer of 2024 I met up one on one online with Victor John, who is leading a self-multiplying movement of home fellowships in North India. They have 25 million disciples meeting in homes discipling others, multiplying, who were previously unreached people groups and languages – and they started in 1998. That is what healthy multiplication does! We have to work with the Holy Spirit and each other and ourselves to build a truly healthy, Biblical, humble, broken, repentant, relational, movement within the body of Christ.

I want to do the same staring in the Western Hemisphere – and across the world.

Further Resources – Yet With A Warning:

There’s None or Very Little Hands-On Supernatural Demonstration Training Included – Which Is Not OK to “Turn Off” For The West. We Cannot Let Cessationists Or “Non-Practicing Well-Meaning Charismatics” Take Over From The Fullness of Jesus In This Area. We Can And Will And Need To See And Practice The Explosiveness For Growth And Glory Of The Fullness of The Power of The Supernatural in The West!

Inspirations:

Victor John of the Bhojpuri Movement – and many others (being very careful, though, for many greatly lack the practice of the power of the supernatural. This is a fullness of Christ, the Spirit and the Father and the Word – that we must no longer downplay, but own to do right in a healthy and strong way – like Jesus and His disciples did).

Introduction

DMM models, thoughts, and patterns are found below. All of the points are cyclical and continual areas of growth, not step by step until completion. They are not prioritized. But it is good and right to ask if what we do aligns with these principles.

Discipling – Jesus-Style

Matt 16:24 – “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me.“

Luke 14:33 – “Any one of you who does not renounce all that he has cannot be my disciple.”

Modelling & Demonstrating (2 Tim 2:2, 1 John 4:17, Matt 28:18-20, Matt 10 & Luke 10, Acts chapters 13-16)

All Jesus said and did – we do that – like Matthew 10 & Luke 10. Words, deeds, and the supernatural are demonstrated by leaders before the followers – for them to learn how to do it. Obedience based discipling – each one directly before the original Jesus of the Bible being trained by Him, who is the same, just like they were. Obedience is love. Do all He did and all He taught and commanded.

Relational (Mark 3:13-15, John 15:15)

We are friends with God, others, and ourselves. Discipling and mentoring in koinonia.

Prayer Based (Personal often: Luke 5:16, Matt 6:5-15. Together: Acts 4:24-31, Acts 12:5-16)

Intensely relational non-religious prayer individually in the secret place and corporately (not to show off). The leading of the Holy Spirit on what, how, where, when to show love, to do any actions – while also following the model of Jesus generally. Miracles of all kinds – Jesus-level style demonstrated and commanded are expected, told, promoted, sought after, acted on.

Word Based (John 1:1 & 14, Matt 5:18, Matt 26:54, 2 Tim 3:16-17, Rev 22:19, Matt 7:24)

Each trained to be reading. Understanding. Obeying. Doing. Sharing the Word. The fullness of the Word is truth (Psalm 119:160).

Share Your Story (John 4:28-30, Acts 22:6-21, Rev 12:11)

All disciples especially new ones are immediately trained to tell their own story of faith and miracles effectively to friends, colleagues, neighbors, and family. This is the most explosive opportunity – as all “knew them” and some are curious. From that they can start a home fellowship with the help of a trained leader present there (to explain further, heal the sick, cast out demons, raise the dead, lead them to faith of course etc.) – and then learn as they grow that fellowship together. New believers from that means new homes and the cycle on repeat! Also, they are trained by showing all the other principles here. On top of mentoring and discipling, they check in with organization for training events, for deeper inner healing, deeper deliverance, better theological understanding etc. Where Social Media is big – much time and focus is spent there – we as believers need to become “slaves to that area” – and tell our stories there as well.

Simplicity and Strong Health (Luke 10:21)

Simple enough that all think: I can do this. Not burdensome. Show them: this is possible.

All Trained To Lead And Then Trained To Train Trainers (1 Timothy 3:1-13, 2 Tim 2:2)

If you are a spouse, a mom or dad or you have enough self-leadership and discipline that you can hold a job – you can lead. You need friendly accountability, hands-on training, discipling, Word, action, repentance, deliverance, holiness, and mentoring.

Accountability and Mutual Submission (1 Peter 5:5, Eph 5:21)

Friendly responsibility through relationships. Helping the new believers to be self-starters, self-drivers, self-initiators. The person of peace (Luke 10:5-6) takes active proactive initiative and opens doors.

Discipling First – Then Evangelism of The Good News – Like Jesus (Mark 1:15)

It took time before His disciples really got who He was. And they didn’t really get it till He rose from the dead and taught them about the Kingdom and they got the baptism of the Holy Spirit themselves. God shows love to all and wants all to come to know Him and His good principles for life personally. Jesus first showed people love and that He is God – then they believed freely and willingly – if they wanted. Then they were born again.

Baptism & Communion & Marriages (John 4:2, Acts 2:42-47)

Done by disciples (not top leaders) and preferably heads of families. Simple & powerful. Simple manuals should be written, distributed, and used.

Running Home Fellowships / Home Church Services (1 Cor 9:20)

In local language. In local music style. Not expository, but Scripture reading and dialogue form – according to Discovery Bible Study – Excerpt from Victor John’s Book: Click. They can grow to larger gatherings than what fits in ordinary home if they have rented space that works. Then the supernatural power of God on display – all can do all miracles through; intimacy with Daddyo (leading of the Holy Spirit – real friendship), demonstration by leaders (like Jesus did), desire (hunger), training (understanding), love-compassion (heart), needs (felt, actual, real), and faith in action (which is actual faith – proven faith). I have written this summary of how a very good home fellowship gathering can look like:

Homes of Discipleship – Miracles and Outreach (HDMO)

This is a “Shape of Revival” – a Biblical Idea And Structure For Acts 2:42-47 “From Home to Home” Fellowships Displaying the Fullness of Christ

See Homes of Discipleship, Miracles, and Outreach

All Can Do This (John 7:37-39, Matt 28:18-20, All Have all the Gifts of the Holy Spirit)

And all are called to be disciples – who make disciples – who make disciples. Keep all simple enough that all can do it. All die to themselves and give up everything taking up their cross to follow Jesus. Anyone who can hold a job. Anyone who can have a child and take well care of it.

Leader Training (the Bible)

How to lead a group. Keep a group running well together. Storytelling. Start with Genesis. Help people realize they are already a leader as someone who can lead themselves well enough to have a job / be a husband, wife. All lead themselves and people around them – voluntarily or involuntarily – even just through their age towards the younger.

The Leader Releases More and More People (Matt 9:35-10, Luke 9:1-6, Luke 10:1-24)

Trains and gets out of the way = sends them out two and two. Do not make them dependent on you to succeed, pray etc. They go to God for it all. No unhealthy dependencies built. Not dependent on outside support or heavy theological training (not against it). God uses anyone. Men, women, young people, children.

Capacity of a leader with a full-time job. The Model also is: Localized according to the leading of the Holy Spirit (John 5:19), the local culture (1 Corinthians 9:20), & the capacity of the leader (Romans 12:6).

A home-church multiplier with a full-time job can handle (depends on the number of small kids and many other factors): 1 home fellowship in their home, 1-2 other fellowships – leading – training that new leader. They can then transition to co-leading and helping others in 2-6 fellowships discipling more leaders of leaders training.

Capacity Of A Fully Trained Full Time Multiplication Leader is higher. The Model also is: Localized according to the leading of the Holy Spirit, the local culture, & the capacity of the leader:

Has 5-10 home churches going simultaneously wherein they raise up and disciple multiplication leaders. They train several leaders in each. Multiplication is always the goal. The possible result is 10-15-20 new home fellowship churches in a year. Can we see this happen in the West among the best here? How many did you influence (to go higher)? They then become enablers of others and arrangers of yearly and quarterly conferences – as well as starting 1-3 locations themselves continually – to stay fresh in the harvest (John 4:35). Look at the progression of Jesus here: Luke 9:1-6, then Luke 10:1-24, then Luke 13:31-33. He still does personal ministry – even though He has also successfully trained others.

Love In Practical Action – Love Meets Felt Needs (Luke 4:38-41, 1 Cor 13, Matt 5-7, James 1:27, Matthew 25:31-46)

Find practical felt ways to love the community in both practical and spiritually powerful ways through signs and wonders – also even through public sector and news recognition and leadership. Lead the community through needed evident heartfelt love in action that they recognize as loving and helpful by, to, and for them.

Going Out To Find The Person Of Peace

Not traditional religious scaring away people street preaching of “preaching and quarrelling on the streets” (Matthew 12:19). But yes – offer prayer and blessings on the streets for healing and deliverance, Holy Spirit filling, dead-raising, and prophecy. The love and goodness of the Father leads all to repentance = run from sin and run into the love of the Father.

As Leaders – Include & Demonstrate (Matt 17:14-20, John 1:39-41, 1 Pet 4:9)

Show disciples your lifestyle. Take them home to you to see how you treat your wife and kids. Honesty. Truthfulness. Your family life. They need to see all your life. Your prayer life. Your ministry. You attitude. Your servanthood. Feel your friendship. See your faith.

Reaching New People With The Good News Making Them Disciples is Always in Focus With Multiplication And Giving Good News To More (Matt 28:18-20)

From the very start – and through all things have a personal responsibility for evangelism & mission in focus.

Fullness of Christ – Everyone Takes Personal Responsibility to Keep Pursuing That Journey (Eph 3:19, 4:13)

Each one has their own individual responsibility to make the decision FOR THEMSELVES to ensure we get fully equipped with hands on equipping “to do ministry” training by EACH of the 5-fold ministry gifts to DO what they train them to do. The same goes for practical training in all gifts of the Spirit. The same goes for the balance of the fullness of the Word of God. Leaders of Home Churches as well as regional 5-fold ministry gift hubs and saint gatherings also take this on them. We go for the fullness of Christ, the fullness of the Father, the fullness of the Spirit, the fullness of the Word, the fullness of all fullnesses in the Trinity.

Generosity (Proverbs 11:24-25, Acts 20:35, Luke 6:38)

All understand it is more blessed to give than to receive in all areas of life like time, treasure, and talent. All understand bringing their tithe to their local fellowship and gifts on top.

Speed vs Direction (Phil 3:12-14)

Direction is more important than speed. It’s not about running super-fast – but running in the right direction as fast as you can – but not so fast you break down. It’s not about position first either – but direction. It took Jesus 3½ years.

The Supernatural For All Done by All – Not A Few “superstars” (John 14:12, 1 Cor 12:31, 1 Cor 14:12, Luke 10:1)

All can do all Jesus did and commanded all disciples to do. All gifts are given to all by the Holy Spirit. We need to learn how to do it from those who see miracles happen in a healthy way on a regular basis. We need to desire it. We need to step out in faith on it and not give up when it doesn’t happen. We need to be led by the Holy Spirit as we do it.

Holiness, Purity, Character, Obedience (1 Peter 1:15-22)

We live pure, separate, holy lives. In the world – not of it. This is from the heart – not strange clothing or words. We turn from fear of man – to valuing above all – what God thinks of us. Se in that regard we “fear Him” – not “people’s opinions”.

Confidence And Boldness (2 Tim 1:1-7, 2 Cor 1:4, Revelation 21:8)

We are in Christ. We rise up. We take complete ownership and responsibility of ourselves and our calling. We change ourselves first – and then can help others.

Continual Repentance to the Goodness of God (Mark 1:15, Romans 2:4)

Brokenness, humility, and servanthood marks us – not condescension or hypocritical, “better than others” attitude. We let God change us, transform us, from the core – from the inside out – by the Holy Spirit, who lives in us. We turn from lies to truth in action. We live out the sermon on the mount in Matt 5-7.

Suffering, Pain, Injustice, Trouble, Sickness, Opposition, Persecution, Misunderstanding, Storms Are All Real (1 Cor 10:13, 1 Peter 2:21, John 15:20, Matt 7:24-25, 2 Cor 2:14), Matthew 5:11-12, Acts 16:25–40)

Trials, storms, temptations, sickness, and suffering are part of life as a Christian. Through obedience to Christ, we can conquer all and win.

Northern Western Europe – How To Show Felt Love Both Supernaturally And Naturally And Avoid Lazy Satisfaction & Tradition

  1. Avoid focus on buildings, salaries, careers, position, and super-fast speed. Focus on healthy organic multiplication growth and go in the direction of any true leader is one that is serving all others with all they have.
  2. Avoid old paradigms of denominations, traditions that are not in the Bible.
  3. Reject the faith that this or that supernatural work, which Jesus did and commanded all to do, “cannot be done” in the West. The harvest IS ready now (John 4:35). Nothing is impossible to God (Mark 10:27) and the one who believes (Mark 9:23). Jesus is the same and can and will do the same today as when He lived (Hebrews 13:8 & John 14:12).
  4. Destroy fear of people’s opinions – instead have a strong “fear” God = put what God thinks about anything above all else (it’s not to be afraid and run away – but wanting to please God more than to please anyone else, do His will – and not care about the opinions of people. It is to die to everything but the love of God – expressed in obedience to His loving commands).
  5. Go for full blown supernatural expression, training, mentoring, action (Matt & Luke 10).
    1. We and people who don’t know God need that love and power of God everywhere.

Good Questions To Ask of All Things We Do

  1. Is this obedient discipleship living out, is it displaying the fullness of Christ in being, words, actions, and time priorities? For instance, how many of us can say this of our normal schedules – we must: Luke 13:31-33 – “I will keep on driving out demons and healing people today and tomorrow, and on the third day I will reach my goal”.
  2. Is this replicable for more than 97% of all people over time with training, mentoring, friendly accountability, & a willing heart?
  3. Does this solve a felt problem and show felt love on the part of the receiver while the solution is healthy, holy & righteous – and aligns with the character and personality of God?

Multiplication / Each Disciple Making Disciples / I Give You To Give To Others Who Give On To Others… (2 Tim 2:2, Matt 28:18-20, 1 John 1:1-3, Philippians 4:9, 1 Corinthians 11:1)

This attitude, mindset, and model must swim through and permeate everything we do. When teaching anyone – all should be framed designed, spoken, and acted as this – “Now I Am Teaching You How To Give This To Others”. Freely receive – freely give.

We Authorize, It’s Total (Extreme) Ownership, We Do Not Just Delegate (Luke 9:1-6)

When authorized, you take initiative to fix it. A leader will help if needed. Delegation is just you doing my task my way with my authority. That is not as multiplication friendly. Jesus gave His disciples authority and power, along with training and sending out to do what He had shown them – in their way. This frees people to learn, think, make mistakes, improve, seek God, and get solutions from God that are used by God. This gives confidence, honor, strength. It gives real honor, responsibility, and personal ownership. I give you principles and truths – but the Holy Spirit uses YOU! Don’t carbon copy, but imitate. You do your own collaboration with the Holy Spirit. Jesus never healed the same way twice.

What About Buildings? (Acts 20:20 – the Acts 20-20 vision)

Buildings take a lot of time to maintain and they cost a lot of money. Jesus and the church in Acts is not seen to buy buildings. They used homes, public spaces, schools, streets, fields, boats, and public places like the school of Tyrannos and the temple in Jerusalem. Jesus also preached in the existing synagogues of His time. Is it wrong to buy, own, or rent buildings? No. It is wisdom to have a priority of focus on ourselves and all others multiplying disciples using homes, cafés etc. – over buildings. Yes. Not an either or – but a big importance of priority. Big question here to navigate well… It’s not an absolute either – or. But a strong prio on homes – also the 5-fold ministry gifts teaching there and the power of the supernatural in training all to be able to do it and then second on public rented spaces over purchased buildings.

What About Weekly / Big Events?

Can be done – as long as the main focus and the main thrust of our energy is on relational bold, full blown Holy Spirit power, Bible-normal, simple, yet wise and strong, Jesus-style multiplication discipleship and multiplication of People With Homes of Peace as demonstrated and summarized in Matt 10 and Luke 10.

What About Full-Time Ministry And Salaries Etc.? (1 Cor 9:1-18)

No one should expect to be paid for this at all. All should expect to self-fund all ministry as a starting point. It’s not either / or – but both + and – and with a possible gradual growth into spending more and more time doing ministry if led by God and if desired. That is not an end goal in itself, but something God will call some people to do. Big question here to navigate well…

Leaders Must Lead And Do It Themselves First (1 Corinthians 9:27)

We, the leaders, the forerunners, first have to live it. But we must also let all others run with it – to unleash everybody’s passion, energy, and talent. All can do this – for all are disciples straight under Jesus themselves and have the same Holy Spirit and the same authority, and the same free will. Then we can show, tell, testify multiply, by example, not by word / theory / mental agreement only. So, I have to believe it, do it, receive it, live it – and see fruit from it – just like I have with all the commands of Jesus to do deliverance, healing, dead-raising prophecy, etc. finding the person of peace and baptizing them in water and the Holy Spirit etc. I have to find 70 to train. I have to personally seek to find and train 12, who seek to find and train 12. I have to experiment with this and end up bearing much fruit in this.

Find Likeminded People To Do It With (Mark 3:13-15)

Where are the people who think, live, and do this – in the financially richest West (preferably from France / Austria up to Scandinavia) – in a healthy, replicable, multiplying way? Is it happening right now – anywhere? Also, here the principle of finding “the person of peace” is real. Who is willing, touched by the Father to do it?

Also 100% in the West: Healthy Power Ministry – Just Like Jesus – Is Foundational To Learn, Practice, And Show. It Is Not Optional (Matt 10 & Luke 10)

In the West, and globally, we need first to understand the fullness of what Jesus taught His disciples – both fullness of fruit and Spirit, Word and Jesus Christ. Being and Doing. Deep friendship and execution. We do not first establish good works – but first intimacy with the Father, love and truth, character, and personal holiness and obedience, and then power, as well as other good works. We will not bow to the lie that healing the sick, raising the dead, casting out demons, prophesying, continual baptisms in the Holy Spirit and fire is not possible and not needed in the West – it is very needed, very possible, non-negotiable, and we will prove it and explosive growth will come because of it when we share our stories.

Principles For Places In The West Like Europe That Are Different In Varying Degrees To Illiterate, Rural, Heavily Persecuted Areas – Could These Be Some of The Diffs?

  1. Maximize Social Media For Teaching, Testimonies, LIVE Ministry on SoMe as well – for people are there also – giving their quality and fellowship time into those platforms. Also have a strong focus on helping people navigate the craziness of the SoMe Pharisees, Sadducees, Herodians, Teachers of the Law etc. that Jesus was also dealing with.
  2. Strong focus on both teaching – and demonstration of the power of God for all everywhere. It is a hands on, “carpenters” education, where you fail until you learn it better! Strong focus on the supernatural in a healthy way (go strongly against and in the face of – “it cannot be done here” and “is not needed here”). Train and do. Demonstrate! Explain – as Peter did on Pentecost and Paul urged the Corinthians (chapter 14 about tongues vs prophecy).
  3. Strong focus against fear of what people will think – only focus on what God thinks, what Heaven thinks, what Jesus did – we do – for it is true love in action.
  4. Focus on high excellence. The quality of what we do reflects on the quality of Who and What we represent (1 Cor 9:19-23).
  5. Do it all at a healthy ok high intellectual level.
  6. Do all completely openly, legally, hiding nothing, not finances, not sin, not deliverance, not prayer. (Luke 8:17, John 18:20)
  7. Be open and transparent about struggles and sin – as well as bold faith and the striving for holiness – without being physically perfect.
  8. WHAT ABOUT BUILDINGS?? They might not be as big of a hindrance here in the West as in heavily persecuted rural illiterate areas – as they are in other areas – where there is heavy persecution and buildings are thus more of a challenge, for they are easily “attackable”. As long as they are not our major preoccupation (money, maintenance, focus). A building can be a positive asset – but their use should be maximized for eating, many meetings, conferences, deliverances, trainings, positive business / “industry”, counselling, etc.
  9. WHAT ABOUT SALARIES?? Yes, multiplication can be done with full-time workers. It can be done better with more time, so part time work if possible. Yes – tithes. Yes – in our spare time (it’s really about practicing as much as possible – that which is possible – to optimize on time and to think and believe and act and speak multiplication: I am a disciple – making disciples – full-blown.
  10. The attitude of course is – all are obedient disciples of Jesus – who make obedient disciples of Jesus by giving away all that I learn – and that all teaching is teaching to and through everyone to all others – so they can teach the same.

What are the practical jobs of leaders in this movement?

  1. Lead their own multiplying home-group – that healthily but can quite quickly turn into many multiplying groups – which turns into many more groups.
  2. To coordinate Saturday training and inspiration, testimony, encouragement, problem-solving days.
  3. To coordinate 1-2-3 month Bible School courses for leaders who really want to grow.
  4. To ensure good materials are available to help the groups
    1. Do Discovery Bible Study well
    1. Order of service – run-sheets for home fellowships
    1. Worship: Books with songs – playlists – musical notes
    1. Be baptized in the power of the Spirit and be trained in all the Holy Spirit gifts – including deep inner healing and deep high level curse breaking confrontational deliverance
    1. Go do Matt 10 & Luke 10 consistently with all who want – from the groups
    1. Learn to pray
    1. Learn to share their faith
    1. All need to have personal friendly mutual accountability within the groups
    1. Do baptisms, communion, and wedding ceremonies well
